Emryld (a variation on emerald : a rich green variety of beryl prized as a gemstone) consists
of three musicians : Hedda (vocals and lyrics), Greg (guitar) and Fred (synths and keyboard).
The Emryld adventure
started in 1997, when Fred and Greg met at a jam session. They had both been playing with other musicians and bands,
but soon decided to focus on playing together, as their styles and preferences aligned. They have since been accompanied
by two female singers, but the real Emryld project took shape when Hedda joined. While she came from a more acoustic
folk-rock musical background, she had a soft spot for moody electronica (reminded her of the blissful days of the Depeche
Mode era), so she began writing lyrics and melodies for the burgeoning band and has been doing so since the three very different
individuals began working together in 2000.
Born from a strange association of rock, drum'n'bass, new wave and electronica, Emryld's
music distinguishes itself by a dark approach of both synth and guitars - close to goth rock, but not limited to this style.
As time passed by, they aquired recording devices, new synths and music software, which helped them shape the sound they wanted.
The computer obviously became an essential tool for any project.
In 2004, Emryld released a 6-track-demo. They played
the cd at the Access All Areas event in Stockholm, where the demo was well received by the critics.
In 2006, Emryld signed to Turmic Records and
released their debut album, called "Come What May". You can have a bite of this album here.
Today, Emryld is working on a second full-length album. You can download one

Because of a lack of availability, our singer Hedda decided to leave the band
in 2008.
As Greg has officially left the band earlier this year, Emryld has become a project open to new collaborations; it's an easier and more challenging way of producing
music.
